UF ARNS Lab Development

In 2025, UF announced a strategic initiative to expand applied national security research. Led by Dr. Marie Kane, Assistant Vice President for National Security Research, this initiative will develop a new UF Applied Research for National Security (ARNS) Laboratory on the UF Jacksonville campus. Envisioned as a secure collaboration hub, the ARNS Lab will support mission partners through applied research and technology transition aligned with key national security priorities, such as:

  • AI-driven solutions for advanced manufacturing, prototyping and testing
  • microelectronics for strategic environments
  • space and strategic-based technologies, materials and capabilities
  • biotechnologies and biosecurity

In collaboration with UF research institutes, centers, labs and academic programs, the UF ARNS Lab will develop opportunities for cleared students and faculty to gain hands-on experience with applied research in a secure lab environment.
